  18.        The following problem occurs in ov:  The Ctrl+H accelerator
  19.        to hide the application menubar doesn't work.  To work
  20.        around this, use the mouse pointer to select the Overview
  21.        menu then the Hide Menubar item.

  27.        The following problem occurs in iconcatalog:  When language
  28.        is changed in ipanel, and the user logs out and logs back
  29.        in, the icons in the iconcatalog may appear tiny.  To work
  30.        around this, use the iconcatalog thumbwheel to scale the
  31.        icons back to desired size.  (Iconcatalog is accessible from
  32.        the Find toolchest, as Icon Catalog, or as any of its
  33.        individual pages [ex., Applications].)

  40.        The following problems occur in the file manager:

  42.        1. When language is changed in ipanel, and the user logs out
  43.        and logs back in, the icons on the background and in
  44.        iconviews (dirviews, URLviews, or FTPviews) may appear tiny.
  45.        To work around this, use the thumbwheel to scale icons back
  46.        to the desired size.  For iconviews, use the thumbwheel
  47.        located on the left side of the iconview window.  For the
  48.        desktop, use the thumbwheel on the Desktop customization
  49.        panel launched from the Desktop Customize toolchest.

  51.        2. If you get icons with no pictures, you need to become
  52.        root, cd to /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e, and run make.
  53.  
  54.        3. The file manager fails to move or copy (drag and drop)
  55.        onto a ddddoooossss media, any files whose mode of access is greater
  56.        than 0777 (see _c_h_m_o_d(_1)).  For example, you cannot copy a
  57.        file with 04755 (set user ID) access mode permissions, onto
  58.        a ddddoooossss formatted media from the file manager.  You can work

  81.        The following problem occur in using MediaMail for IRIX 6.2
  82.        on an IRIX 6.3, 6.4, or 6.5 system:  MediaMail will complain
  83.        that it cannot find the colors OOOOzzzzCCCCllllttttnnnnPPPPaaaannnneeeellllCCCCoooolllloooorrrr or
  84.        OOOOzzzzRRRReeeeaaaaddddOOOOnnnnllllyyyyCCCCoooolllloooorrrr, which are obsolete in IRIX 6.3 and later
  85.        releases. To silence these complaints, edit your
  86.        $_H_O_M_E/._S_g_i_r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s file and add this line:

  95.        On IRIX 6.3, you will also need to edit (as root) the
  96.        /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_X_1_1/_s_c_h_e_m_e_s/_B_a_s_e/_Z_m_a_i_l_S_p_e_c file, find the two Oz
  97.        colors in the file, and change OOOOzzzz to IIIImmmmdddd.  Relaunch
  98.        MediaMail to see the changes.

  102.        5.5  _T_o_o_l_c_h_e_s_t

  105.        The following problems occur in the toolchest:
  106.  
  107.        1. When running a remote toolchest, the menu items under
  108.        Find Icon Catalog are all local entries. The programs do not
  109.        run on the remote system.
  110.  
  111.        2. When trying to use the Internet toolchest to Browse
  112.        OutBox Page, it's possible to get an error from your Web
  113.        browser.  This can occur if your local host does not have a
  114.        Web server installed, or if its Web server is not running.
  115.  
  116.        If this happens, you can see if you have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k
  117.        product installed by typing vvvveeeerrrrssssiiiioooonnnnssss nnnnssss____ffffaaaassssttttttttrrrraaaacccckkkk in a Unix
  118.        shell window.  If no subsystems are listed, then you need to
  119.        install (as root) the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k product from your IRIX
  120.        Applications CD. You may also want to install the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n
  121.        product, which is used to configure the FastTrack server.
  122.        You can use the graphical Software Manager tool _s_w_m_g_r(_1_M) to
  123.        do this.

  140.        If you already have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k product installed, then
  141.        you can check if the FastTrack server is running by typing

  143.        listed, or if you see only output with the string "/usr/ns-
  144.        home/httpd-2077/config", then your default Web server may
  145.        not be running. To restart it, type (as root)

  148.        You may want the Web server to start automatically each time
  149.        the host is rebooted. You can check if it is already
  150.        configured for automatic restart by typing cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg and
  151.        looking for the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n and _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k lines.  If the
  152.        status is _o_f_f then the server will not run automatically
  153.        upon reboot. To change this configuration, type cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg
  154.        nnnnssss____ffffaaaassssttttttttrrrraaaacccckkkk oooonnnn or cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg nnnnssss____aaaaddddmmmmiiiinnnn oooonnnn in a shell window.

  165.        The following problems occur in the search tool:  Several
  166.        Search Tool features are no longer available in IRIX 6.3,
  167.        6.4 or 6.5. There are no right-mouse menu, no Selected menu,
  168.        and no searching for people, hosts, or devices.  (The Search
  169.        Tool is accessible from the Find toolchest, as Search for
  170.        Files.)

  173.        5.7  _C_u_s_t_o_m_i_z_a_t_i_o_n__P_a_n_e_l_s

  176.        The following problems occur in the customize panels:
  177.  
  178.        1.  If the line "export test=1" appears in your
  179.        $$$$HHHHOOOOMMMMEEEE////....ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp----_h_o_s_t_n_a_m_e////ppppaaaannnneeeellllsssseeeessssssssiiiioooonnnn file, then
  180.        customizations you make through the Desktop->Customize
  181.        panels will not be remembered across sessions.  In
  182.        particular, if you have checked the Enable Remote Display
  183.        toggle on the Desktop panel, the "export test=1" line can
  184.        prevent you from running applications on a remote system and
  185.        displaying them on your local system.  To fix this problem,
  186.        simply edit the panelsession file in your favorite text
  187.        editor and delete the "export test=1" line.

  189.        2.  System and Desktop Sound (dtSounds): If soundscheme is
  190.        not running, toggling on _D_e_s_k_t_o_p _S_o_u_n_d_s will have no effect.

  210.        5.8  _O_u_t_p_u_t__M_a_n_a_g_e_r

  213.        The following problems occur in the output manager
  214.        (outputd):  Killing _o_u_t_p_u_t_d will cause any application that
  215.        was launched while _o_u_t_p_u_t_d was running to die if it tries to
  216.        produce any output.  (The Output Manager is controlled from
  217.        the Desktop > Customize > Desktop > Display Application
  218.        Errors toggle.)
